Summer Already?

Well, Memorial Day has come and gone, so I guess it is unoffically summer. The heat sure has arrived. It is going to be in the 90's all week (YUCK!!). I guess when the kids get out of school (the last day is Thursday), we will be going to the pool...a lot!

Father's Day is coming up fast so let's not forget those wonderful men in our lives. For those who are into college sports, we have some great patterns featuring motifs from Clemson and USC. These would look great framed and hanging on the wall or put on a box top. Trinket boxes from Patches 'n Planks would be great for this. They come in three different sizes (3.5", 4.5" or 6.5" opening).

If you are unsure about something to stitch, or don't have enough time, consider giving a gift certificate. Dad could use it for his own framing (or stitching) needs.

Looking for something to stitch for the summer? Here are some fun and quick project suggestions:

Sunny Days by Prairie Schooler.

The Pursuit of Happiness by My Big Toe

Summer's Sunny Rays (Quick Stitches) by Stoney Creek

Sweet Summer by Barbara Ana Designs

2011 Monthly Pillow Series: June by Pine Mountain Designs

For those of you who are following the Farmer's Market series from SamSarah Design Studio, Fresh Pear is now available.

Looking to cool off? Well, maybe stitching some winter project might help. The 2011 Buttons and Beads Winter Series and the 2011 Winter Holiday Collection (both from Mill Hill) are available now. These kits might cool you off and get you thinking about Christmas (yes, it is only just over 6 months away). Check the what's new section of the website for pictures of these holiday kits.

Hope you have a great day and let's stay COOL!

What a nice day today is...not too hot or too cold and definitely no storms. Sorry I didn't get a chance to blog at the end of last week but after the storm we had early Wednesday morning, I was left with a huge oak tree on the corner of my house. What a nightmare! Luckily no one was hurt and the tree did not come through the roof.

I wanted to let you know that the shop will be having a graduation/wedding framing special from May 21 till June 14. You will recieve 20% off a custom frame order with a 50% deposit. This includes graduation invitations, diplomas, wedding announcements or any other memorabilia that relates to graduations or weddings.

Guess What!! The mystery sampler "Birds of a Feather" part one has been revealed! It looks awesome. I just can't wait until the other parts are released. Part one features a beautiful floral border. The other parts are still a mystery and will be revealed on June 10 (part two) and July 10 (part three). Quantities are limited, so reserve yours now! I know that I am (like I need another project).

The shop is now featuring some new wooden boxes from a company called Patches'n Planks. These are beautifully crafted boxes which come with a pre-cut piece of Plexiglass to protect your work. I also feel that they are reasonably priced. They are available in light oak, dark oak and cherry. Come by the store to see them, or if that is not possible then look on the website. Any of these boxes would make a great Father's Day gift.

Just to let you know, The Stitch and Frame Shop has a stitching group called the "Gabby Stitchers" that meet at the shop on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month from 6:00pm till 8:00pm. New members are always welcome, so bring your stitching project and join the group for an informal time of fun, stitching and lots of talking. Check out the pictures from the last get together.

I hope everyone has a great day and I'll blog again later.

I hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day. I know that I did. It would have been a perfect day if my son had cleaned his room..oh well....I guess he will have to do it this week or he will kill himself when he falls into the tons of Lego's scattered all over the floor. Just gotta love 6 year olds.

Would you like to finish off your projects (especially smaller ones) without spending a fortune? When I was in the shop recently, I saw the cutest finishing technique. It was called a flat fold. The project is stretched to a board and then attached to some fabric covered boards so that it resembles a tent. It can be finished off with some cording around the edge. This would be perfect for seasonal projects because it would be easier to store after the season is over.

The pictures show a flat fold from the front and from the side. You can see how it sits (kinda like a tent).
The flower shown is from the funky Flowers Garden (By the Bay Needleart). There are 12 flower designs available now and 12 more to come. To see a picture of all the flowers visit bythebayneedleart.blogspot.com
There are several projects finished like this in the store so come by and have a look. Maggie will be having a flat fold class on Saturday July 16 from 9:00am to 11:00am. It costs $25.00 plus supplies. Please call the shop to reserve your spot since class size is limited.

Summer Alphabet by Lizzie Kate

This fun design features colorful summer motifs (garden and beach scenes, sunflowers and more) and a fancy sampler-like border around each letter. Embellishments include golden sunglasses, shell charms and tiny brown buttons. You can stitch the whole alphabet or you can pick different letters to spell out words like "welcome" or some other phrase. The Spring Alphabet is also available (which means we can probably expect a fall and winter).

Project in the works!!!!

Farmer's Market by SamSarah Design Studio

SamSarah design Studio has created a series of 6 designs featuring fresh fruit. Melon, Lime, and Berry are available now. Carol has started this series and it is sooooo cute. Moe has made the most adorable watermelon pincushion to go with it. Instead of using it as a pincushion, you could add a hanger and make a fun fruit tree or even a fruit bowl. I'll keep you informed on Carol's progress. Don't worry, she stitches fast.
Hope everyone has a wonderful afternoon and I'll blog again later in the week.
Happy Stitching!!!
