Stitching Tips
and
Techniques

Cross stitching with BEADS.

Many cross stitch designs use beads. They are not hard to put on so don't be intimidated by them. Here are some quick hints about beads....

  • When attaching beads, you can use a floss color that matches the color of the bead, a floss color that matches the color of the background fabric or any kind of transparent thread.
  • The simplest method to attach a bead is with a half stitch. Come up with your needle in one corner (I use the lower left), thread the needle through the bead and then go down in the opposite corner (upper right). Simple!
  • One method to keep the beads from drooping or sliding requires two strands of floss. Attach the bead using a half stitch then come back up through the first hole, split the two strands of floss around the bead so one strand goes on each side then go back down through the second hole.
  • Another method is to use a full cross stitch. Attach the bead using a half stitch then complete the cross stitch while going through the bead again. Keep in mind that attaching with a half stitch, the bead will sit at an angle. If you attach with a full stitch, the bead will sit straight up.

Almost August.....wow!

It's hard to believe that in less than 2 weeks, it will be August. Before you know it, the holidays will be here. Now is the time to start that holiday stitching. Maybe some inspiration is needed. If so, then take a look at some wonderful new designs that will be arriving soon. A new project might be just around the corner.

COMING SOON!

Four new designs. I love the "baby" design. It's different from most birth samplers and you can stitch it with any color you wanted. Perfect for boy or girl.
