Vacation...at last!

I'm off on vacation this week but before I leave there are a few things I wanted to blog about before I go.

We have 3 NEW kits from Pine Mountain Designs:

2011 August small pillow kit

Rick Rack Row - August

August Frame Up - Autumn Blue House

These kits are fun and quick to stitch and make great gift ideas. I really love the new Frame Up series. I might even take the Autumn Blue House with me on vacation. Surely I can actually finish it before I get back.

Farmer's Market from SamSarah designs is now complete. The last fruit in the series, "Fresh Apple" is now available. This is such a cute series. I can't wait until Carol finishes it. She only has the last two fruits to do. Hurry Carol!

For those of you who like to collect scissors, Kelmscott has a new addition to their line...Daisy Scissors.
These cute scissors are 3.5" in overall length. They have softly rounded scallops on the handles and are finished in a matte black color. Even though I have some scissors, I might just have to get a pair of these because they are toooo cute!

Daisy Scissors

Coming (probably in August) from My Big Toe Designs:

"Be Not Forgetful"

I so want to stitch this when it comes out. I have always loved the saying and the border is simply beautiful. The model was stitched over one thread but I will probably stitch it over 2 since my eyes would probably revolt otherwise.

Well, I am off. It is time to start packing so the relaxing can begin. Hope everyone is enjoying the summer and I'll blog again when I get home.

Too HOT to do anything but blog!

It is way too hot to do anything outside, so I guess sitting inside (where it is nice and cool) and blogging is a perfect solution. Last week, the weather was much cooler and I was able to spend some time outdoors working in my yard (well, what passes for a yard). Needless to say, I will not be working in my yard today or over the weekend. Next week (hot or not), I'll be going on vacation. I am so looking forward to it but before I leave, I wanted to share some of the new items with you.

Look What's Here....and What's Coming!!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July. I know everyone at the shop enjoyed having the day off but now it's back to business. We have some wonderful new things in the shop now and even more to come soon.

Now available from By the Bay Needleart:

Stitch an Inch...Summer Pack #1

These adorable designs make a cute 1" square when stitched over one thread on 28ct or for those of us who don't see quite as well, a 2" square when stitched over two threads. You can stitch these patterns individually or in one long row (your choice). Summer pack # 1 features six nautical themed designs plus a bonus mermaid pattern. Summer pack #2 is currently in the works and some seasonal ones (Halloween & Christmas) will be done as well.

Summer pack #2...in progress

New from Bent Creek:

Spooky Halloween Mantle: House of Jacks (kit)

This is the first of a three part series. Part one features a crooked green house and the beginning of a trailing vine border. The black and white photo shows what the finished project will look like. The kit includes 18ct linen (enough for the entire project), the first part of the pattern (shown in the color photo above) and the thread needed for the first part.

Coming in July from The Victoria Sampler:

Button Up Birdies #5...July Wren and August Hummingbird

Pumpkin Patch Farm

Project in the works from Lizzie Kate:

Lizzie Kate's next Flip-it series will feature a group of 6 snowmen (tentatively named "6 Fat Men"). Each of the 6 leaflets will have a unique shape and design. They will also include a snowflake button. They are still a work in progress so I don't know when they will be available but I wanted to give a sneek peak because it looks like a really fun and "cool" series.

Stay cool and have a great day!

When stitched together, the design size is approximately 9" x 15" (when stitched on 30ct. R&R Reproductions Irish Cream Linen). It's Back........Hardanger Embroidery
Not that it ever went anywhere, but we now have someone who can teach it again.

Hardanger Embroidery originated in Norway and is traditionally done white on white (tone on tone) on 22 count even weave fabric. It is used to embellish table linens and other home furnishings. Hardanger is made up of simple and easy to learn stitches to accomplish beautiful intricate designs. Many cross stitch designers incorporate it into their designs.

Please join us at The Stitch and Frame Shop to learn the beginning steps of Hardanger Embroidery. You will be introduced to the basics by learning how to do kloster blocks, cutting, needle weaving and dove's eye.
Come by the shop and view our Hardanger display and let us know if you are interested in learning this simple embroidery.

Martha Boyd, our instructor, will schedule classes and in shop demos. Please check the website for days and times.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!
